Spring Style Is Here
Product Overview

This is a premium quality choice uncirculated example of Canada's commemorative silver dollar, struck for circulation in 1958 and marking the 100th anniversary of the Cariboo Gold Rush and the establishment of British Columbia as a Crown colony. It has been independently third-party certified as Mint State 64 by the ICCS (International Coin Certification Service), Canada's most respected and trusted grading service. Only a very small percentage of coins from this era have survived in this exceptional condition, making it both visually appealing and extremely rare for collectors to acquire.

Unlike coins made especially for collectors, business-strike silver dollars like this were normally poured into and out of tote bins by the mint, and were bulk weighed, counted and then shipped loose to the banks in canvas bags holding 1,000 coins, which would normally bang against each other and cause many surface marks. A coin graded Choice Uncirculated 64 has significantly fewer surface marks than average and is far more attractive than a typical example from the same year.

Original silver coins dating back more than 65 years usually have some golden or light-brown surface toning; this is natural oxidation and is considered normal and even desirable by many collectors. The coin comes protected and security sealed in a standard ICCS certification holder, which includes the assigned grade of MS-64 and a unique certification number.

The reverse design commemorates the centenary of the Cariboo Gold Rush and the establishment of British Columbia as a crown colony. The design shows the mountains in the background with a totem in the foreground. The obverse features the original young effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
